February 14, 2004i'm sure this has been asked before but i am gonna do it anyway. i dont understand the shift point settings and rev limitter settings. i have the 5.3 with 315 75x16 tires on 16x10's and changed the tire size setting to 34" which is the highest setting. but what should i set the rev limiter and shift points to to get the best performance for my setup. right now ithose two i left stock and my truck still shifts quite a bit, not as much as stock but i think i can get it better.

February 14, 2004Try setting your rev limiter to 6000 rpms, and your shift points to +4, +5, and +6.
February 14, 2004- stupid........ Yeah and then drive it around for a while I don't know if this helps but when I programmed mine it seemed like it improved the more I drove it....
February 15, 2004I currently have my rev limit at 6200 and my shift points at +4, +12, and +16 and have not had a problem. Something else to keep in mind is these shift point changes, according to the manual, are only in effect at wide open throttle. If you don't race or have a lead foot, these won't make a difference.
February 23, 2004I have mine set for 6000, +3,+5,+6. At anything over 6000 my truck was still shutting off before hitting 2-3 shifts. I am using stock tires though, with you bigger tires I am sure you can up your rev's..
February 23, 2004You guys with you rev limiter over 6000 I hope you don't have a 5.3. The 5.3 Red line is 6000. I would be very careful going over 6000. I have mine set to 5900 rev limit and 1-2=+1 2-3=+7 3-4=0. I have 5.3L 4.56 gears with 315/75R16.
February 23, 2004That's why mine is set at 6000.
February 24, 2004I just talked to Hypertech, they said the reason they allow you to raise your rev limiter to 6200 RPM is because they did extensive testing and found that to be a safe RPM limit. Do you really think they'd sell you something that would destroy your engine? What good would it do them to trash your motor?
