October 25, 2003i am planning on getting the f150 keys for my 99, so my question is. is this something i can do in my driveway or at a garage with a lift myself? or do i need to have it done by a shop. i installed the 3" body lift myself. and i have 315's under it but they rub when i turn and flex offroad. i think this will solve my rubbing problems.

October 25, 2003You can do it yourself. You will need a 2 arm gear puller. Your truck already looks like it sits level. Any reason you are installing the ford keys? Here is a link on how to install the ford keys:
October 26, 2003it sits level cause i already cranked the torsion bars, plus now i am running 16x10 AR atlas w/ 315/75 16's so i need more room for the tires.
October 26, 2003Ok, Post some pics when you get them installed... so are you going to install them yourself?
October 27, 2003You did the BL yourself? If so, you won't have any problems at all. Check out the link Z71 gave you -- that's the definitive source of info.
October 28, 2003thanx a-lot for the help fellas. i am gonna give it a try. i think iwill get the keys middle of nov. deer season opens this weekend so i definately cant do it this weekend. one more thing i am not sure of is there one key per side or is there just one? thanx again
October 28, 2003There is one key on each side, so two keys.
October 28, 2003it is easy to do I did mine myself. I am just curious why you are going to do the keys if it sits level already. if it sits level now and you replace the keys it will still sit level but you crank it up then the front is going to sit higher than the rear. is that what you want. just curious. just hate to see you do something for no reason know what I mean.
October 30, 2003ya it sits level now but i have 35's and they rub so i am gonna do the keys and 2 inch blocks, or new leaf springs in the rear to keep it level and hopefully clear the tires more so they dont rub all i need is about an aditional inch-inch an a half to get the clearance. i already have the torsion bars cranked all the way
October 30, 2003oh I understand now. I didnt realize before that you were going with the blocks or new springs in the rear. that makes sence, I just didnt want you doing the keys for nothing. you are way ahead of me though. make sure to post pics when you are done.
November 5, 2003After you install the ford keys, do you still have to crank the torsion bars ?? Or do the keys raise the front end without cranking ??
