December 14, 2011I just noticed i do not have a drain plug on my rear diff, i just assumed that it had one on my 09 1500 with locking rear and 3:73 gears. Was wondering if anyone else has a drain plug or none of them came with it??

December 14, 2011None of them do. You have to remove the rear plate to drain it all out.
There is a fill hole at the front near the drive shaft.
Some people us a Siphon gun to remove the gear oil then replace it thru the fill hole in the front
December 14, 2011When did they stop putting a drain plug in? My 99 has one. I guess it saves GM some money.

December 16, 2011I have a drain plug in my 99 and it is that way from the factory. It is stock and never had any thing done to rear end except changing the oil in it.
