I just noticed i do not have a drain plug on my rear diff, i just assumed that it had one on my 09 1500 with locking rear and 3:73 gears. Was wondering if anyone else has a drain plug or none of them came with it??Forums : Silverado (2007 - Present) : Rear Differential Drain Plug?? (10676 Views)

None of them do. You have to remove the rear plate to drain it all out. There is a fill hole at the front near the drive shaft.
Some people us a Siphon gun to remove the gear oil then replace it thru the fill hole in the front

I have a drain plug in my 99 and it is that way from the factory. It is stock and never had any thing done to rear end except changing the oil in it.December 20, 2011
Most just have fill plugs and you remove the cover, word to the wise make sure you get the fill plug out before draining.January 2, 2012
My 94 just has a check/fill plug. Gotta pop off the pan to change fluid completely. I think it`s better that way though. I like to inspect the wear on the gears when I change fluid![]() |
