December 3, 2011I have bought a LS1 electric fans, DC Controls controller and was going to install the fan and realized I had a 34inch radiator. If the dual fan setup is not covering the whole radiator will that be okay? After christmas I am going to get the 05 Factory GMC e-fans to replace the LS1 fans. Any help would be greatly appreciated. I have a 96 c1500 w/5.7L.

December 4, 2011It should be fine as long as your not Towing heavy loads. But in Texas warmer weather I would switch to the larger fans.
Are you measuring the coils only and not the tanks on the side? Normally the 96-99obs trucks come with a 27 inch radiator
December 4, 2011if you are worried about it being to small buy a peice of flat sheet metal and cut it to the shape of the radiator core and mount it to the fans to make a new fan shroud
it will make the air the fans are pulling go threw the entire radiator and not just where the fans are
December 4, 2011Ya I finally got everything ran today and took her for a drive and I think it will be okay but I still think im still gonna get the 05 e-fans and do a swap. I measured just the fins on my radiator and they are 34inches not measuring the tanks on the sides. The fans still seem to cool alright.
Thanks for all your help its much appreciated everyone.
December 4, 2011My 98` has a 34inch radiator and LS1 fans. no need to get gm truck fans, the ones you got will do the job plenty well. If your radiator isn`t plugged (air passes through it fine) and your coolant is good, you shouldn`t even need any fan at all. Don`t worry about the last couple inches not being cover.
When I did mine, I just cut the extensions that covered the fan blades. And the fans just sit behind the shroud with no problems at all. Goin on two years...
