@ravnfan1 i thought about that, but decided i didnt want to wait for anything to show up, so i just went off of what was available here now. and the picture really doesn`t do it justice.
@blakewagu I can do a write up, i don`t know how applicable it will be for you. as your avatar is a GMT800, and mine is a GMT400. but i would be willing to bet that it will be very similar. you pretty much pop off the front fascia, same as if you are putting in a CD player, than unscrew the 4 bolts holding the instrument cluster in. All the lights are labeled, but the illumination ones are easy enough to pick out because they are the big ones. My HVAC controls were help in with some snaps, and by sliding a knife carefully through the access slot i was able to unsnap them. than i had access to the back of the controls and could pop out the lights for the HVAC controls. thats pretty much all that was involved.
If there are a few people with GMT400s that would like a write up with pics, i will be going through my roof consoles to swap out all of those lights with blue ones, when i do that i will take my dash apart again and take pictures with a detailed write up.
on another note, has anyone taken apart their factory CD player? i wouldn`t mind going through it and replacing all of those lights too. long term i will be putting an after market deck in there, but if its pretty easy i wouldn`t mind taking it apart to put some blue lights in it.
