July 14, 2011So I finally got my Dynatech longtube headers(ceramic coated) w/ high flow cats and my Wheately tune installed. I could not be happier. These additions along with my already installed Volant CAI and my Corsa Sport exhaust feel like the perfect combination of parts, really. It performs and sounds like a real truck should. The sound, power, torque and overall performance cant be beat. I havent been to the dyno yet but it feels like every bit of a 30 hp increase...or more(all parts combined)and thats with a 6in lift and 35`s. The sound of the exhaust is great. I now call my truck the angry truck because when I step on it just sounds like its pissed off. I cant say enough about Wheatley and his tuning ability. The tune was the piece of the puzzle that pulled the whole thing together of course. I spent at least two hours with Charlie, only about an hour of it was the tuning. He is great to deal with and is extremely knowledgable and talented with his craft. I dont have any experience with other tuners but I do know you cant go wrong with a Wheatley Tune. I am now getting 2.5 more mpg on the hwy and 1.7 in the city along with big power and torque, you cant beat that. I have put on about 1500 miles and everday I get in my truck I still get a grin and cant wait to drive...anywhere. Well I just had to post about how excited I am about my truck. Mild cam next and who knows, maybe a supercharger later down the road, lol.

July 14, 2011man, that is great! you got to love when you feel like you got a new truck with all the hard work you put into it. go wheatley or go home! keep us posted on it!
July 29, 2011This is prob my next mod also. Been looking at headers, cam and convertor! Got any sound clips?
July 29, 2011I dont have any sound clips yet but youtube has some with my same combo of parts. I dont think the clips do it justice though. It just sounds so much better in person. You can also go to the Corsa website, they have clips there. Just keep in mind that its exhaust only, imagine it deeper and throatier because of headers. I have one friend that says it sounds like a nascar truck when I punch it.
July 29, 2011I did a hypertech tuner, cold air intake, bigger injectors, headers, high flow cats, O2 sensors, and a magnaflow cat back. And your absolutly right, it makes you want to drive your truck. I did a new stereo and speakers before all the performance mods and now I don`t turn the radio on. I`d rather listen to the truck. I gained a good bit of mpg`s as well, when I "drive" it, but its hard to not put the pedal down. 410:1 gears done too.
July 29, 2011Griff those are some nice mods, I bet i runs great. If you have time you should check into a custom tune. I have been running chips and then handheld tuners in all my trucks since the early 90`s and will never go back to one now. A custom tune is just for your truck and would tie all your mods together so nice. It is day and night between a handheld and live tune. Not trying to tell you how you should build your truck, just a friendly suggestion.
July 30, 2011^^^^^ this is good advice. custom tune is the way to go. sounds like you guys got it going on. i would love to put some longtubes on mine...one of these days.
July 31, 2011I`ve been told that quite a few times, I think after I order my thumper cam and gear drive I`m gonna do a custom tune. We have a Matco tool dealer around the area here who is writing programs as well. I`m gonna check him out and the Wheatly tune. I`ve heard so many great things about the Wheatly tune from so many people on here. Friendly suggestions are always welcome, thats the way we learn what to use and stay away from. Thanks. Your truck sounds like it will wake the dead. Thats what its all about.
October 1, 2011I bet the headers are nice man, i had them on my last 2 trucks and after about 2 years they leaked and I said I would never go there again. As for the custom tunes they are a very good mod but Im gonna stay with my bullydog gt tuner. My truck is still under warranty and if I ever have to take it in for diagnostics I can put the truck back to stock and not lose my tune. If you have a custom tune you don`t have that ability and if they do a diagnostics check on the computer it will wipe out your tune and you will have to purchase another one unless you and the guys that installed it has an agreement. Nice truck, enjoy the added performance.
October 1, 2011Yup free retunes for life so I am not worried at all. I would have to pay again if I did NOS but i am going the supercharger route. The dealer can wipe my tune as many times as they want...if I even take it to them. Where were your headers leaking from and were they the same brand as mine, Dynatech ceramic coated longtubes. If so you would be the first person I have heard that from and believe me I do my research. Nothing wrong with bullydog though, nice truck bud.
October 1, 2011i just keep my stock pcm for through in if i need to.and custom tune the other one.easy to do. i love tune. now for headers and new exhaust.
October 1, 2011Thanks, no they weren`t like yours lol. The first pair were gibson log headers and the second set was from hooker. They both warped over time from me street racing(don`t do anymore)lol. Headers have come along way since then (ceramic, titanium ext). Your dynotechs are top of the line and if installed properly you should never have any problems. You had me laughting from the excitment in your voice from the new power your recieving from them lol. I no exactly how you feel, it`s a ruch. Enjoy yourself but be careful. I snapped my driveshaft at 142 mph in my Ram Daytona while racing an F150 and a Rumblebee. I won the race but I lost the war cause the F150 pulled me back home right threw the middle of town lol. Thank god my truck was under warranty, they installed 2 new ujoints and a driveshaft. I was very lucky that I didn`t kill myself or someone else.
