June 20, 2011wait for them to break in, they get louder the more they wear in. also how do you have your pipes running?
June 20, 2011get glasspacks or staights...i ran 40series for a while and never thought they got loud enough...since your from IL you can wait a winter and then those flowmasters will rust out anyway thats when i converted mine to staights.

high flow or cat delete.
3 inch pipes.
June 23, 2011I too had dual 40 series flows on my 98 pickup.....had them for about 6 months and was not at all impressed by the sound.
I cut them off and sold them on ebay, then bought 2 10" glasspacks and put those on there.....much louder!
I love em.
high flow cats would also make it sound better if you dont already have those on there.....
June 23, 2011I heard flowmaster super 44 are supposed to be next loudest to flowmaster 10`s if you want to stick with the two chamber. I have super 40 on mine sounsd a little cleaner and deeper than the regular 40
June 26, 2011ok i just jumped into the whole truck world thingamajig but i`ll answer this one. I used to own a cadillac and i know its a northstar 4.6L and you`ll get a different sound from some motors to some mufflers (apples to oranges). But i know i had a custom exhaust job done from the custom fab`d headers flowing through straights to dual super 44`s (not including my work done from chrfab.com)... and let me tell you something, that sound was..... RIGHTEOUS!!!!!! it was LOUD! not TOO loud, but just that loud enough that makes you satisfied. and if your planning on getting something else? word to the wise (or the other way around), always buy STAINLESS!
