May 13, 2011i had a question about getting an electric radiator fan that i could mount behind the radiator and wire up so i had a toggle switch to turn it off and on. i mainly want it to cool the truck down a bit when im driving in the city since the temp tends to rise, i dont overheat but i figure a little cooler is better right? any thoughts on this?

May 14, 2011Are you removing the stock clutch fan?
If you are keeping the clutch, I think you may need a pusher on the front of the radiator (as opposed to a puller on the back like the clutch fan is)
I have seen it done before, and some people wire them to the temperature sensor to come on automatically.
May 14, 2011lots of info on the subject. whats it going in? better to just go all the away and wire harness it in to the pcm.i have heard "derale" is good one to do.
May 14, 2011its goin in a chevy 1500 with the vortec 350. im gonna keep the original clutch fan too i just wanted this for some extra cooling power
May 14, 2011you got enough room?
May 21, 2011IMHO remove the stock fan and replace it with LS1-LT1 fans from a 96-99 Z28 or TA. Those fans pull more air than the stock one does. Also while in Stop-n-go traffic the efans will pull more air at slower speeds and less strain on the engine. Plus your AC will be colder also.
I have used both ls1-lt1 fans and have a Flexalite dual fan on my 04. If i were to do it again I would go back to the LS1 style fans and a Nelson wire harness connected to pcm...JohnB

May 23, 2011Can this be done as easily in a 98 as it was in your `04?
May 23, 2011A Nelson wire harness or a tune won`t work on an OBS Chevy like he has (Vortec 350). I run LS1 fans in my truck. They go through a switch on the dash. I have them on pretty much any time the truck is on. Here`s how I wired them up:
August 30, 2011hey my 08 just started to develop a small leak in the drivers side of the spectra radiator, my question is do i need to take my exhaust and tuner off before i bring it in or will they not care...
September 1, 2011Addind a pusher fan and possibly a high flow water pump should help tremendously. I use LS1 fans and a Painless Wiring Harnes from Summit, they seem to do the normal job of cooling the truck. as for hard core playing, it lacks cooling power but I am pushing it really hard...
To add to other post, he is correct. u cannot add a wiring harnes to your pcm for electric fans on 98 and prior models. My painless harness that I got requiring me to drill and tap my thermostat housing to trigger the fans on/off plus tap the compressor harness.
