February 27, 2011Ok, i drove a customer`s 94 chevy 1500 at work the other day, and it led me to ask this question again. His truck did the same as my 94 suburban. Theres a fast clicking noise inside the cab. It increases with engine speed. I cant pinpoint the noise. It seems to be under the dash, but im not certain. It almost sounds like if you lightly touched your fingernail against a computer fan. Has anyone else had this problem? Can anyne tell me what it is?

February 27, 2011Does it only make this noise when the heater is on? I`m thinking it might be something to do with that?
February 27, 2011Heater on or off, makes no difference. That was my first guess. Radio on or off makes no difference either
February 27, 2011Its not transmission related either. Mine is an automatic, and the other truck was a manual.
March 3, 2011Is it speedo cable? Does it do it sitting still? Doesn`t sound like the blinder relay does it?
March 3, 2011the 94 is drive by electric motor not cable
it is possble that it is the motor that drives the speedo
sames question does the noice occure when the truck is stopped?
March 3, 2011It happens both sitting still and moving. The speedo is elecronic on this one. Does not sound like a blinker relay. One thing i did notice is the noise changes to like sort of a buzz for only a half second whenever throttle position changes. But then it goes right back to the same steady ticking. Its real fast too. Kinda like a baseball card in a bike spoke. But different pitch.
March 5, 2011It is possible that it is the heater fan motor. On my truck even if the A/C and heater are off, the fan motor still runs at a slow speed to keep air circulating in the truck.
March 8, 2011Have you ever disconnected the speakers to see it it`s radio related?
