February 9, 2011Hi,
Can anyone figure this out, I really need some help.
I have a 97 chevy 5.7 sfi, parked on Dec 24 in NY, Heavy snow on the 26th. Could not start it, sounded like timing, kept mis firing and kicking back to the starter. Retarded the timing a few degrees, and it started. Next day doing same thing, and broke starter nose. Replaced starter, had battery disconnected to do it. Started right up, ran fine. Next day same thing, smelled fuel, replaced fuel pressure reg, under manifold. old one was slightly bad, not wiped, held a bit of vacuum pressure leaked down too quick. fuel pressure close to 60 psi. After I finished it started right up. 3 days later same thing. replaced dist, because of shaft wobble. started up but runs with a mis, was at tdc when installed and rotor pointing at the 8 diamond. Now replaced crank sensor. still runs like crap. New dizzy cant be adjusted hold down clamp locked in place, seems like it wants to be retarded a bit. Yesterday pulled dist cam sensor plug out and cranked, to see if it would have to re-learn timing, It started up, with no signal from dist? actually runs a hair better, but still misses a bit. Plugged back in, stumbles, and runs like crap. What should i do next?
