November 2, 2010I am getting warnings for my tire pressure all the time lately. Installed bigger tires without Nitrogen and temps where I live have been flucuating. I understand temps fluctuating will can do this but it seems like an everday thing with a different tire each time. Anyone else having issues?

November 4, 2010I would get the warning light on my `08 GMC every now and then on a really cold day in North Dakota last winter. Mainly the tires that weren`t in the sun when the truck sat outside for a while, but never had another other problems. Most of the time the light would go out after running down the road and the tires warmed up. I would also monitor the tire pressure with the DIC when I did get the warning light. Tire pressure would only be a pound or two low.
November 4, 2010Sounds like a racket to me..... thank you Ford & Firestone!!
Is there any way you can disable it or change the paramitars to a 5lbs variance??
I`ve also heard after a tire change (size wise) they need to recalibrate the system??
Just thoughts and ideas!!
November 4, 2010Somethings strange. The variance should be around 5-8 lbs either way I think. I thought the hole nitrogen filled tires was to eliminate the variance of pressure : There`s no way that I`m aware of to remove or disable the TPS.
Have you done a re-cal on each of the sensors?
November 4, 2010I went up to 285`s. Is a recalibration of the system a dealer item? Or can it be done myself? thanks for the info...
November 4, 2010You can do it yourself. You`ll have to look in the owners manual for your procedure. Basically,
1. Put truck in learn mode
2. Start with drivers side front, let air out till horn blows
3. Passenger side front
4. passenger side rear
5. drivers side rear
And exit learn mode.
November 4, 2010I`ll do that...damn, you are good Stevens07...thanks. Have a great evening.
November 14, 2010Maybe I`ll try that too, I`ve been carpooling, so the truck will sit for a couple ddays, and then I get that damn light. I`m still running the stock 20" rims and tires.... I`ve been really contimplating if all this newer technology is good, or just a nuisance. I can`t wait for the active fuel management system to give me issues!
November 14, 2010Any luck
btw, my last truck had AFM and no issues in 54,000 miles. I also turned it off with diablo, then a custom tune at around 25,000 miles. Also I`ve had good luck with the TPS too Hopefully you won`t
