August 25, 2010I have a older rockford fosgate amp powering a cheap visonik 10" sub in a premade box it`s perfect for what I want but ever since I put it in there is static coming through the sub and if I turn the sub level down the static is still there. It`s not engine noise and the rca cable is routed on the other side of the truck opposite from the power cable. Mabye bad ground? Thanks for your help.

August 25, 2010check and make sure the positive and negative wires are hooked up all the way to the sub. could just be a little bit of a bad connection or the wires got switched somewhere in there and the wires are backwards.
August 25, 2010also ground issues can cause havoc as well.

August 25, 2010i always used one of the studs for the back seat for a ground and never had any problems
August 25, 2010mine did the same thing with the speakers when i installed my system, i had to re wire and make sure all the connections were in place perfectly.
also, you can put a noise filter on there, although its more of a band-aid than it is a permanent solution.
August 25, 2010Another thing that effected my system was that the rca cables needed to be switched around to make sure they were going to the same place on the amp that they came from on the deck. I don`t really know why, but it mattered ...Good Luck!
ps. I have since upgraded my system, but the old one was with a really poor amp and no name subs, ( which produced that static noise ) but you seem to have a good amp, but hows the subs condition?
