October 8, 2010Not a Problem Rob, Any Time! When I replaced the part on my truck I only had a little over 30K miles on it and when I opened up the solenoid afterwards I too had a lot of dust and a spider web inside. Ever since I changed it there hasn`t been any problems!

October 8, 2010I ran out today to top of the fuel tank for the big trip to the Lake. I could see the MPG`s on my scan guage actually reading higher than they have for a while. Imagine how much gas I could of saved it I changed it 8000 miles ago?
Anyway, looking forward to the tow to the Lake.
Have a good weekend!
October 15, 2010WOW.
The trip to the Lake was flawless. This week I made Another 1100 mile business trip and NOT one error code. Better yet, the truck is performing great with better gas mileage.
Well worth the repairs!
If anyone is curious, I now have 145K miles on the truck.
October 15, 2010What kind of gas milage increase are you getting. When I replace mine I did go up a little, maybe 1 mpg but I didn`t even think twice about it until you said you were seeing a difference.
October 16, 2011I have to muscle in on this conversion. My 2004 is doing the same as both of your trucks. What is the part that needs to be replaced? I tried looking it up but haven found the name or the part number. I had this error before I replaced the heads this summer (thanks castech) and am pretty sure the intake manifold is not leaking now. I am going to give it a second look/listen and see if i can find a leak. But if one of you guys could post the part/number that would be great.
2004 Ext Silverado Z71 5.3 "T"
October 17, 2011Barry,
The user service kit for you 2004 Silverado should be part number 19207763. That kit covers vehicles from 2004 to 2009. If yours is an early model 2004 you may need the 2003 kit. The 1999 to 2003 kit has a part number of 19207762. The part is called a Solenoid Kit Evap Emission Canister Vent Valve. Beyond this you will also need to pickup some hose and clamps from your local Napa/Autozone/Advance Auto store to complete the install.
If you would like to send me your email address I can send you some pics I took when changing mine along with the GM Bulletin that I managed to get a copy of on this specific issue. Let me know and good luck with it.
