June 4, 2010Ok guys its been a long time but i am back and i need some assistance with this one... I just recently put the 3rd fuel pump on my truck, now the other 2 lasted about 2 years each. the last one i just put in was a bosch fuel pump with strainer.. I had issues with getting it started when first installed but the guy at advance auto parts told me to cycle the key 3 or 4 time to get pressue to build up.. i did and it started right up.. drove like a dream up unitl today when i was getting ready to leave work and i was back at square 1 NOTHING... i chceked the shrader and had no pressure at all fuel pump realy is clicking and this pump you cant even hear run... i am hating to think this pump has failed on me in only a week... CAN ANYONE OFFER A SUGGESTION HERE? this site has been of great help in the past and i am hoping that someone can help me this time as well I still love my truck i just want to find out what is going on. Thanks guys!

June 4, 2010use only a delphi pump....the aftermarket ones suck. especially bosch and airtex. you can buy the delphi at oreillys or online if you want to get it cheaper than the dealer.
June 4, 2010thanks for that and i have heard this as well BUT i still have a hard time believeing this pump died on me so fast... it just does not make sense at all.... i would have thought this Bosch pump would have been just as good
June 4, 2010i have put several aftermarket ones in at the customer`s request and seen them last as little as a couple of hours and as long as about a year or so. the delphi pump is what they used from the factory and seems to be the most reliable. I wont use and don`t recommend anything but the delphi.
June 4, 2010ok so how do i get my money back from advance for the pump.. grrr they will just want to give me a new pump....
June 4, 2010just talk with the manager over there and explain that you want to go buy the delphi OEM part. they should take it back. at least the parts stores i have worked at have done it in the past.
