March 25, 2010I usually put less than 2 thousand miles a year on my 6 liter chevy (I drive a company truck to work). I know you usually hear 3 months or 3000 miles between oil changes. Can oil really go bad? I`ve got 1500 miles on`er since last summer. I usually Change it twice a year just because. Am I pushin my luck?

March 26, 2010i think u will be ok changing u`re oil twice a year. it`s not like u just all of a sudden stopped driving your truck where it just sat in the garage collecting dust. if that were the case then u`d have other things to be concerned with than just the oil
March 26, 2010I think you should be ok twice a year if you are only doing 3000 miles or so.
March 26, 2010For me, it`d depend on what type of oil you use:
Conventional oil - I`d do every 3 months
Full synthetic - 3,000 (I actually do every 5K on my Burb, which works out to be every 6-7 months)
March 26, 2010i would suggest every three months because even though your engine is pretty tightly sealed, while sitting it will collect condensation and after a couple runs there will be some byproducts of combustion in it which will slowly break down the oil.
March 26, 2010id say sitting do it every 6 months just to be safe
