December 12, 2009Ok, I have a 1998 Chevy tahoe 2 dr. 4x4 with the 5.7 vortec. Its a awesome truck, but the previous owner removed the cat converters and ran true duals, so the rear 02 sensor is shot and it runs poorly while going down the road, are there any tuners out there that can turn off the rear o2? Because I really dont want to redo the exhaust, and I can`t find a 02 sim anywhere. The truck is mainly used on the farm, or running calls with my fire dept, so emissions isn`t a issue

December 14, 2009Ok, now i`ve heard it could be the MAF and or MAP sensor, a busted air box, timing off etc... really dont know where to begin now. Guess i`ll say the symptoms, it cranks up fine, when im accelerating especially hard acceleration its fine, but when i`m just cruising down the road i can feel it missing and hear it backfiring thru my exhaust and it gets horrible gas mileage. any ideas anyone? anyone had this problem before? the motor, trans and fuel system are all a year old with less than 60k miles
December 15, 2009You also have a SES light without the rear O2`s they only monitor cat efficency. You need to check and see if the SES light works when you turn on the ign first. If you have no SES light fix this first probably someone removed bulb. Bet you have other issues for the drivability problems. Yes a tuner can disable the rear O2`s.
