Are you parking with wheels turned? If so turn the steering wheel a little to relieve the pressure, perhaps that is the issue.November 29, 2009
If you park on an incline, follow this precess to help prevent binding.Once you`re in the parking spot, hold your foot on the brake and shift into neutral. Set the parking brake and lift your foot off the brake pedal, which will allow the truck to rest on the brakes. Then put it into Park. When you leave, put it into gear first, then while holding your foot on the brake pedal, release the parking brake.
This keeps the weight of the truck from resting on the park mechanism (pin or pawl) and binding.

I have a 1997 Chevy silverado with a 5.7 L engine. It has nothing wrong with it except recently it started to have no power when I step on the gas. It does not seem to downshift. Power is ok if I steadily increase pressure on the pedal and there is no tranny slip putting it into gear._________________
