March 21, 2008I have been using a spray gun with some diesel and gas inside... Spray it with high pressure then rinse with some water
March 21, 2008yea, take the whole front off, clean it up then paint, looks great
and don't ever get wet or muddy again
March 21, 2008wow, sounds great, but deff dont have that kinda set up , nice truk man
March 21, 2008Get Gunk engine degreaser and spray it down. Then rinse with water. Cover the alternator and distributor if you have one.
March 22, 2008I just pressure wash it and watch where I spray.... sorta. then I just let it dry out, then clean it with wd 40 or whatever.
March 22, 2008Simple Green works great for cleaning it up.
March 22, 2008Along with Simple Green, sometimes I use "Scrubbing Bubbles" Bathroom Cleaner the most. It Sucks the dirty out of the Ribbed wire covers and makes them "Purdy" again....JohnB
March 22, 2008I seldom use water under the hood. But when needed I use the low pressure/low volume spray at the car wash to get the muddy spots and dust off.
After the compartment is completely dry I spray everything with a can of silicone spray. It will look like new
WD-40 also works good to shine and protect but holds dust a bit.
March 22, 2008after i wash the engine compartment carefully, i use the leaf blower to dry it out...i do the same after i wash the outside too...
March 22, 2008Hmmm...I'll have to try the leaf blower trick. I've got a small electric leaf blower that would finally get used.
I always wash stuff off before I work on it and that would speed things up.
