December 7, 2007Alright guys, got a few new questions...
My truck now has 50,000 miles on it, so it is time for some service. I have an appointment Monday afternoon to get the tranny flushed, Transfer case serviced, alignment, and oil change.
I passed on having the stealership change fluid in the front and rear diffs, as they wanted $240 to do so, and I think I can do that myself... Anyone changed front and rear diff fluid in an 04 4x4, that could pass along any tips? Is $240 dollars way to much money for this service?
Also, the dealership asked if I wanted them to do a tranny flush, or service. Apparently the difference is, with the flush, they change all the fluid, but not the filter. Versus with the service, the do not flush out the torque converter, but do change the filter... Which way should I go? I guess I was thinking more along the lines, of a complete flush now, then at 75,000 miles I'll drop the pan and change the filter (along with a portion of the fluid obviously).
I really want to get the transfer case and front diff done, as lately I have noticed in 4 wheel drive, at speeds above 45-50 MPH, I am getting a low pitched noise and some vibration. I am afraid I have a bad CV shaft, but not sure,,,,Any thoughts?
