August 17, 2007I want to go from a 1992 chevy grille to a 94-98 chevy grille. My body man told me I need the bumper brakcets in addition to the center and side fillers. Has anyone done this swap w/o the bumper brackets or do I need them also. Thanks

August 17, 2007bumper brackets? the bumpers and brackets are all the same as far as i know ... bumper filler peices yes, bumper brackets no
August 17, 2007Looking at ckresto, they have this kit that has the bumper brackets. I need someones input with first hand experience of actually doing a 92, anyone?
August 17, 2007well damn maybe i was wrong
that may just be if you're doing the bumper filler peices, which you dont have to do it just makes for a cleaner look
August 17, 2007I bought The 94-98 complete kit from CK Resto last year with all the lights, filler piece, the whole 9 yards and it fit like crap. Not onlky did it fit like crap but the paint around the headlight was pealing off and one of the clips broke that go into the filler piece. It also left a huge gap on the passenger side where it meets up with the fender from the bottom to the top. When I called them the saleman told me and I quote " well that is just a cheap grille". That's not what they told me when I bought it for allmost 300.00 dollars. Also The bottom mounting brackets didn't come close to where the stock brackets Were mounted to on the grille/radiator support. They were about 3" away from it and I needed to fab up some steel brackets to secure it.
Paint peeling off. Which might not have been a bad thing if I took the rest of it off.
The brackets on the bottom. You can see on the bottom corners there is a bracket on either side that goes back about 3". The new grille didn't have them.
If I was to do it again I wouldn't get one from CK Resto. The customer service department suck and the guy told me that their mane business was mustangs and they really don't know much about chevy trucks. I'f by some dumb reason I did buy from them again I wouldn't get the reproduction grille. For the extra money I would go with the OE grille.
August 17, 2007I also had to make notches in the grille/radiator support for the headlight adjustments. Otherwise I couldn't get the headlights to sit flush on the grille support.
Now it just hangs on the wall in my garage where it will stay.
