March 7, 2011Yeah i get about 11.5-12 city, and 13-14 on the highway. It sucks but I love my truck. I dont need a 2500 but i love the payload. If i had this truck paid off i would go back to a 1500. These new ones are getting 17-20 mpg. I can live with that all day.
March 7, 2011I stay around 12.5 in the cithe and have got 16.5 but usually stay around 15.6 on he highway. All I have is a tune and magnoflow on mine. The worst ive got was 11.2 before the tune and hauling a tractor to Fredericksburg. After the tune I picked up right at 2mpg. Ive put a little over 21k on it since June of 10 and I dont see it getting any better. Its pretty consestant in not being horrible but not great either
March 7, 2011I wish I still had my 6.0! I got 11-12 on average in an 03 Yukon XL Denali, but I also had a very heavy foot.... I wish the 350 in my 94 ran as good as the 6.0 and GOT as good mileage as it did.... I`m only getting about 9-10 now

March 7, 2011my 6.8L : gets 9mpg, and I cant run anything but premium.. It will get 23MPG on the highway though.. only problem is I don`t get on the highway much..
My Escalade gets 15-18MPG, and 22 on the highway...
March 8, 2011would a good cam help or hurt along with longtube headers and going to a y pipe instead of the duel to the muffler. i heard 6.0l are to small to need duels like that. any thoughts?
March 8, 2011lets put it like this.. IF you want power.. your going to loose Gas mileage..
The 2 are inversely proportional.
There is a medium, but swapping in a cam I dont think is going to help your MPG problem.
Air filter, tune, and Maybe an upgraded exhaust system.
Get into the motor, and you going to be asking for more fueling, and more timing.
March 8, 2011I feel bad for you guys my 5.3 averages 18 mixed driving if i drive it regular. If i drive it hard worst ive seen is 12 and thats cruzing at 80 in the hwy and beating on it while in the city. I have seen 24 on straight hwy cruse set a little above 65. That was before full intake and exhaust i had a straight pipe. my buddy has a 6.0 intake exhaust E fans and if he drives easy he can get 17. But thats granny driving status
March 8, 2011my 5.7 gets 12.3 in the city and 12.5 on the highway consistantly. this is the average i have came up with after two years of writing down my mileage at every fill up.
of course that is with 35`s and 9" of lift.
i have just recently switched to all synthetic from front to back, replaced the maf, pcv, fuel filter, switched to k&n, and will be replacing two bad o2 sensors along with the semi-clogged high-flow cats.
while i dont expect anything crazy, im hoping maybe i can get up to 13 or 13.5! ha, like thats something to be proud of.
March 9, 2011I can`t say alot about City driving. Most of mine is freeway. Since gas prices went up I thought I would see what I could do to squeeze every drop out of every gallon. And it`s working. In addition to Tires properly inflated and clean air filter, I slowed down.
Generally when the speed limit posted is 65 MPH I cruise 70 mph. Most cops turn thier heads unless doing 7+ miles over the speed limit. Results are 15 MPG. This week I tried (it was hard but I did it) doing the speed limit. My increase was +3-4 MPG`s. No kidding! There were sections of road lowered to 55 MPH and It increased to +4-5 MPG.
I get paid .51/mile. Two weeks ago I calculated It cost me .23/mile to operate my truck. Then it was up to .28/mile (Based on 15 MPG). With my new driving technique, I`m down to .20/mile cost.
Call me old fashioned (just not old) if you take the 100+ million Trucks and SUV`s in the US and have them SLOW DOWN we could relieve this country of SOME of the oil we are so dependant on. I know that won`t happen. Becuase we have become a society thats in too much of a damn hurry.
