February 7, 2006Mod I'm currently working on is changing ALL my interior bulbs to purple.
Before I take the whole entire dashboard apart on my 92 FS Blazer. Pertaining to the cluster, does anyone know if the current bulbs in there are colored or if the backplate is colored?
If it the bulbs are colored, how many are back there? Including all other dash lights such as rear wipers, rear defrost, rear hatch, defrost, heat, a/c... etc.... and dome lights (I have 2 sets of 3 domes, the ones on either side of the dome light are different than the dome bulb itself)
When I do take the whole dash apart, I'd like to have ALL the correct bulbs for each location. Don't wanna use a higher voltage/amp than what each location calls for. (don't want them to burn out or overheat) I'm only gonna do this once....Don't wanna put it all back together to find out I missed a few
If no one knows, is there a website or something that tells you exactly what type of bulbs go throughout the interior of the truck as well as how many i'll need? Chiltons book doesn't say (unless I didn't look hard enough) I know they aren't all the same. (ex: 194's 168's 1158's etc....)
Also....looking thru lots of automotive bulb websites....I'm seeing colored LED bulbs. Since I'm going with purple which aren't gonna be very bright. do ya's think if i go with colored LED equivilants I'll get a brighter purple?
I saw someones post that his friend makes custom clusters and the turn signal indicators were made into the mustang logo. I'd like to get my hands on a custom cluster and have the bowtie as my turn signal indicators. Can whoever posted that, PM me about this? I'd like to order a set. Can't remember which forum
Here is a pic I saw on another forum with different colored guages. Looks awesome...Mine will be different shades of purple, and maybe pink where the normal red/orange is
Someone had recommended I cover my bulbs with gels by making my own. I ordered a sheet from a lighting technician. Well it melted almost immediately Perhaps I got the wrong type of gel (you'd think a lighting tech's gels could withstand some heat) after all they use them on stage to cover lights right?
Oh I think red needles would look cool too!! Gotta change them as well.
Been to all these sites for anyone else interested in changing their interior lights.
