February 3, 2006Looking good Sean. You could also use a small Mercury switch mounted inside the lid to trigger those leds too.

February 3, 2006hmm, never thought about that. ill look into that Tat, thanks.
February 3, 2006Nice looking console. I built an overhead one for "The Beast" my old 87 K10. The one issue I had was wrapping the vinyl on it. I kept tearing it. I finally brought it to the local upolstery shop. The guy sewed a strip of vinyl beading where the edges were. Cost me $10 but it was perfect. It's hard to explain in words, but when you have multiple contours it's hard to make the vinyl go wher you want without seams in the right places...
Good luck and keep up the good work!
February 3, 2006thanks for the heads up. i kinda wish i knew how to sew or whatnot to make more of a slip cover for it. I wonder if there are an upholstery shops around here that wouldnt mind doing it for me.
February 3, 2006Looks good so far sean! Keep up the good work!
February 4, 2006well i found someone to vinyl it for me. I called a good 6 or 7 "upholstery" shops and only a couple ones said they did custom things, and both of those seemed like out of the home, pay high kind of places. Asked a couple friends and found out one of their moms works at a fabric place and can make the cover for me.
only thing is i have to wait till next weekend. but i think its worth to have it professionally done.
