December 7, 2005My brother's set of APC chrome tails melted the red brake lenses a couple weeks ago. They have been in there for about 2 years now, and now all at once, they melt. Anyone ever had this happen? Still the same bulbs in it as always too. You would think that they could make a taillight that would hold up to the heat generated by the bulbs. Stock ones hold up fine. Would they replace these under warranty as a faulty product??
December 7, 2005Probably not since he's had them for 2 years. He can't prove he had the correct bulbs in there. APC = Always Pretty Crappy
December 7, 2005If it didn't happen for two years, I rather doubt it was the lenses. Sounds like a possable short. Just my worth.
December 7, 2005yea apc won't refund or do ANYTHING for that matter. i had their clear corners and they fail to tell you to SEAL them before putting em on...
December 7, 2005not a fan of APC either. i had a pair of fogs that went back in only months, and when i looked at the clear corners i have this weekend there was about a 1/4" of water sitting in it. Never again.
as for the problem, do his taillights still function? to create that kind of heat something must have gotten real hot, like an arc or something. If they held up for 2 years i dont see how the bulbs could have just melted it all of a sudden.
December 12, 2005yeah, the lights still work perfectly. I will have him check his bulbs to make sure they are the right size, but I know he hasn't changed them, so what makes them melt it just all of a sudden? The APC's have been and worked great the whole time, except now when they melt.
