July 5, 2005ya i got one place to look at how much it would cost them to put in the new muffler i bought, and he said $80 so is this a good price or sould i shop around and tell other places what i was offered before them so i can get a lower price?
July 6, 2005Depends what you intend to have done. For reference, when I had my Dynomax installed, they cut the Flowmaster and tailpipe off, bent me a new tailpipe and welded on the muffler. Cost me $75. If you're just having the stock muffler removed and Flowmaster welded in, $80 seems pretty steep to me. I think I paid more like $25 for that when I had a glasspack welded on before my flowmaster.
July 6, 2005the guy that looked at it said something about a water cooler or something to do with water. i just want to new muffler welded in, but ill go some place else and see how much they charge me. i only have a part time job and need to save some for college, so they cheaper the better.
July 6, 2005teach yourself how to weld and do it for free...thats what i did..my very first mod on my first truck...better sense of accomplishment doing it yourself..
BTW...its not hard..just takes some practice but with a wire feed a toddler could do it!!!
July 8, 2005It is good to learn how to weld, especially wire-feed since it's so simple. It's not a quick fix if you don't have access to a welding machine, tho
I took a welding class at the community college, but I don't even have an oxyfuel setup that I can use, so I have to pay people for it.
