January 31, 2010How good are they and do they make a difference? I was told that they give around 12 hp. Do they help on MPG.

January 31, 2010I have one and believe it made a difference. It def. gives better throttle response and you don`t have to step down as hard to pass someone on the highway...
Personally, I`ve always been a believer in them. And I like this one cause it adds a little bling under the hood.
February 1, 2010Why would you go AFE when you can have a true cold air intake? Isn`t AFE an open filament?
February 2, 2010hell , it looks great to me...where did you find that??
February 2, 2010Actually Craigslist.. : Got it new/used s:
I`ve seen it on ebay for around $250 new so don`t pay more than that if your interested in one.
February 2, 2010AFE Has to be the best engineered intake system I have seen to date. Nothing comes close to there craftsmen ship. I also have there exhaust system for my 09 silverado
February 2, 2010Blackcherry;
S&B, Volant, and GM Performance are true cold air intakes. They sheild the filter from the engine heat and allow the cooler air to enter the intake. AFE is nice, and I have a K&N 77 series...Volant on the way as we speak....but apple for apple, AFE is seriously lacking in the performance department....
February 2, 2010And not saying the quality is bad on AFE or others similar.. just saying its not a true cold air intake :
Heck.. Every truck I`ve ever owned got K&N 77-Series
February 3, 2010I bought one for my truck and like it. I definitely have better throttle response. I found mine on Ebay for a good price.
February 3, 2010I understand that the AFE is not a True Cold air intake and More like a ram air intake but It still works for me and I deff notice better response mid range and It looks really great. Its got 16gauge heat treated metal Surrounding the intake, oversized air filter, and great piping. I come from a long line of High end sports cars (Vette, Audi S4, M3, Tons of GTIs) and I could say you will not notice to much of a difference between cold and a ram air set up. No matter which way you go your still at a gain because you increased the volume of air.
