October 31, 2007I got the itch this week and started looking a the duramaxs. Looking at anywhere from 2003-2005 chevy or GMC crew cab D-MAX. Anyway ive been looking at what my payments would be and for 5 years it would cost me somewhere around 400-500 a month for one of these trucks. Dont wanna get too personal but honestly i dont see how i could ever pay that much a month for a truck i pay 230 a month right now for 3 years but 500 a month for 5 years is sooo much..i dont see how i could ever do it but i want one soo bad. I def dont see how guys afford the 08 D-max. Sorry for the rant but looking at this baby just makes me want to shell out 500 a month sooo bad..

October 31, 2007I feel your pain ,and btw that is one Sweet looking Truck!!
To many toy's to buy in life ,not enough money
I know a Guy in town who put nothing down on a Duramax, and ended up with a $1000 monthly payment on it for 6 year's!
Well he got rid of it eventaully, and ended up bankrupt.
I'm using the same financial adviser as him
October 31, 2007Well they either make a lot of money, dad makes a lot of money, they live paycheck to paycheck, or they have a really nice truck and live in a trailer.
November 1, 2007dont be mad, ive always wondered the same thing for years...back at the end of december 2006 i bought a new 2007 gmc sierra classic and i got away with it for like 18,500 i think, im only 21 years old and i put like $1,852 on it and my notes are $331 a month, i think i got away pretty good but maybe not, we knew the guy at the bank so he helped out alot with the paperwork stuff but even still that was a extended cab with a 4.3L v6 in it, i couldnt even imagine what a Z71 would of cost me
i guess if i wasnt pouring half my check into my retirement then i could prob afford a bigger note

November 1, 2007I hear you buddy. I pay $585 for my crew cab and $450 for my Yukon. Don't have that much debt and manage the expenditures in order to afford the vehicles. It is a lot of money, trust me. It does feel rewarding though to work hard and have a satisfied feeling to drive a bad a*s rig.
November 1, 2007Just think its a matter of the more you make, the more you spend. It's as simple as that.
November 1, 2007Everything seems expensive when you pay interest for 3 years. If you can't afford $500/month for three years on a note, then just sock $300 each month away into savings for 3 years and buy the truck for that price instead. Then you've got yourself a D-max for only $300/month for 3-years. Prior planning goes a long ways with your money.
November 1, 2007Also, trade in and money down knock the total down...
A lot of D-max's are used by businesses and workers that use their truck for a job... some businesses get tax credits or special pricing too....
Me, I will never afford one, but that is why dreaming is (mostly) free
November 1, 2007I have a hard time paying that much for a payment. $500 a month is more then half a house payment for me.
November 1, 2007yea....i know how it is when i pull into an offroad park pulling my jeep with my truck and i park next to guys with $150k rock buggies pulled by a lifted 2500HD with every accessory on the planet and he is only 21 years old...explain that one
or better yet a guy that is an offshore marine welder that i wheel with has a jeep rubicon unlimitied with anything you can think of on his jeep...hes like a driveing 4wd hardware catalog!....and yet i can take my $4grand xj and follow him ALL day!
