July 19, 2008i wish my parents had kept there old 2wd k5, it would have been better than nothing, they sold it in ''96 *or* so....
July 21, 2008go with the k5 but remember these things when you look. the late 75''s and up have just the removable rear shell. the 73-75 had an option of a full convertible fiberglass top. gm used the dana 44 front and gm corporate 12 bolt rear (the dana 44 was used until 77 but an option after 77. the gm 12 bolts where used upto like 81 i think. the dana 44 and gm 12 bolts are alot better than the 10 bolt front/ 10 bolt rears.you can get upgrade axles and parts easier for the dana 44''s. in 82 up most came with the 700r4 trans with a np208 t-case. the700r4 has a lower 1st gear than the th400''s/th350''s plus have over drive. i prefer the pre 80''s becuase theres not much to them and ez to work on than the 80''s efi setups. but if you have to be emissions legal then it depends on mechanically inclined you are. i have a 78 and love it. i think they look more old school than the new front end body style.
July 22, 2008yup, since the pic i have put a 14bolf FF with disc brakes, 4.56 yukon gears and a detroit and a new trans went in on friday. still have to redo the front with 4.56 gears and 8lug hubs.
its power everything, keyless entry, 8 speaker stereo, etc etc etc oh and its fuel injected
