July 16, 2008Does anyone know where I could find a K5 Blazer, from ''80 to ''91? I''ve always liked those K5''s from that era, but the problem is finding them, and do dealers have ''em?

July 16, 2008Ebay.. Craigs list... local news paper classifides?
A few places to look.
July 16, 2008Yeah some used car places will carry the ones that are in nice condition. I got my 75 on ebay for 1600 bucks lifted, tires, motor mods and all. It has now since turned into more buggy-ish
July 16, 2008But what if im nervous about buying off of ebay? I just really dont trust it, and im having a hard time finding the blazers at dealers on carsoup, findcars.com, *or* other locals. I have seen ''82 Suburbans, but not very many blazers, am i not just looking hard enough? *or* are these K5''s hard to find?
July 17, 2008you can go look at something before you go and buy it. i did, i got my k5 off ebay it was 30 miles away and went there and spent like 30 minutes going over every inch of this thing. i would never buy anything off ebay for alot of money without looking at it first
theres always a bunch on craigslist. that place seems to be better then ebay for vehical listings. i got my s10 off craigslist too (the one in the avatar)
i actually commited to buy it without looking at first, but iw as tearing everything out from underneith it so didnt really care how it ran.
heres the pictures from the ebay ad of my k5
July 18, 2008Seriously interested and how much would you be willing to spend?
I noticed your location...
I''m a second owner of an ''87 that I need to part with. I''ve driven it pretty regularly for the last 7-8 years, and I used in winter too but then that''s what I bought it for! Basically kept up on it mechanically and patched some on rockers/qtrs...The rear sill pan needs steel from corner to corner (I can''t afford the time and effort to replace this with an oem part, but need to fix it to cut out exhaust fume and seal floor area...I don''t believe the top has ever been off.
I replaced the tailgate, also with new channels and sweeps.
New 900 cca battery this year...radiator was replaced when I bought it.
Ball Joints both sides done already but still has some steering play...maybe a drag link *or*?? (haven''t figured that out), no cracks at frame/steering box.
New Gas tank/sending unit replaced about 5-6 yrs ago.
Put new BFGoodrich TA''s on (31x10.5''s)end of ''07 on orig rally rims
w/trim rings...I''ve kept as stock as possible, not much into modifying.
orig 305 w/ about 182k...Never been in any accidents since I''ve had it.
I fix the sill pan support and add leaf springs and shocks, $$2300-$2500(?Someone else fix the above...like around $1800?
I can''t keep it either way!!...my "better mpg vehicle" is the ''88 suburban and is more utility for me on cabin trips.
July 18, 200884, nice pics btw, looks like one of the military ones?
How much are u selling it for rj? 1800? How long are you going to be keeping it? Cause I want to save up some more money before i actually go out and buy one, cause id rather pay for a vehicle with money I actually have lol.
July 18, 2008
Hopefully not longer than I have too....I''m already searching the leaf springs...(posted "compatibility")....but likely won''t wait past Fall if not sooner, BUT I will keep doing what I can to it meantime.. I''m getting too old for the heavy mech work..I''ll try to get a few pics and post here after the weekend...
I have a second set of Lemans AT tires, that I''ll let go with it if someone wanted to burn up a summer set and save newer for winter..(*or* the
option: me keeping newer tires and selling cheaper yet...(I have $700 into the newer BFG''s and newer rims)I''ve seen some real rust buckets go for a $1000 and rust free "gutted" K5 Border trucks selling as high as $5000...
I saw SEVERAL K-5''s (like 15 *or* so)behind Interstate 35W/Cty Rd.I next to the DMV station here in North Mpls/St Paul...all camo''d and many maybe even diesel...some w/ glass missing..they have auctions posted every now and then...must be a govt station of some sort but doesn''t look like much
''til you see out back!
July 18, 2008as stated above, check local papers, online, and just drive around town looking on the weekends...thats how i found mine...and as for dearlers having them, good luck with that...if you do find one at a stealership, be prepared to pay WAY more than you should...and they made then from 1/2 top convertibles from 76-91...before that they were full convertibles
July 18, 2008ill sell you mine for ten grand. bounch of stuff done to it
