October 12, 2005I know there is quite a few racetracks and some drag strips in WV, I know there is one around winfield but thats a little far and I haven't been to one before so if someone could give me details about it and how much it is and anything else on it. Is there any places closer to charleston or clendenin that anyone knows of? I would like to go to a drag strip sometime soon if someone could help me out with which one is the closes to me and the details about the place. Thanks

October 12, 2005Im not really sure..i know around here we make our own drag strips That would be cool if we could like have a meet at one though. Maybe we should talk more about it and see what we can do.
October 13, 2005Yeah thats a good idea. Then we can all race each other or whatever. There was one close to Beckley but the dragway is closed, at least thats what everything I have read says, I know the raceway is still open but I don't know if you know anything about the dragway since you leave near there. I think the only other near me is in winfeild but not for sure.
October 13, 2005Kanawha Valley Dragway located near Frazers Bottom. Take 64 west to the Winfield exit. Go right on route 34. Follow 34 to route 35. Turn left on 35 headed to Pt. Pleasent. The drag strip is on the right about halfway to Pt. Pleasent. It's a 1/8 mile track, and I believe they a have a test and tune on Thursday night that's open to the public. You should call to make sure there still open.
October 13, 2005Alright, maybe we should try to get a meet or something for the dragway. I'm not sure when I'll be going maybe next month or something but if anyone else wants to go sometime or to another draw strip just let me know.
October 13, 2005I have been there before! Its a great track and yes they do have a test and tune session for a few hours on Thursday night then they have Bracket racing at like 7 and on. I ran there a couple times and the best I could pull back then was about 10.34 seconds. Kinda slow, but I didn't want to tear the ol girl up. There is guys from all over that go to that track. It is roughly 15 to test and race. 10 for general admission. All vehicles must be drove in to race. They have burnout competitions and general judging of appearance too. Awesome setup they have, well worth going to!!!
October 13, 2005Almost forgot...they have a website too...don't know the address, but you can find them on Yahoo or google.
October 13, 2005I've been to the site before. Do you have to pay for admission and also pay for test and tune or is it one or the other? If me and someone I want to race go I get to race that person right? its not like I have to race whomever they put me against is it? I haven't been to one so its not like I know anything about them. Are you planning on going there anytime soon? Or anyone else?
October 13, 2005You can basically race anyone you want in the test and tune. To race them in the bracket racing is hard...you have to lineup in line evenly. Just pay for one or the other. The people who ride in with you have to pay for reg admission, but if you yourself are going to race you have to pay to race. Its a load of fun and the family that runs it lets you race anyone you want to. I have raced everything from a Z06 to a pinto. lol I might go there soon..not sure yet...let me know when you are going and I will try to get down there. Plus they sell racing fuel and i just get a gallon for the smell of it. Cleans out the carbon when you mix 50\50 in your truck too...but you can't have a CAT on your truck
October 13, 2005Alright, I'll let you know when I'm going it probably won't be till nov. or so I hope it doesn't snow then. Do they ever close the track? What is the bracket racing like, do you have to pay extra for it or are there any certain specifications like is it open to public and stuff? So I can't use racing fuel if I have a cat on my truck? and how much is that stuff?
October 13, 2005Bracket racing is where you race your best test and tune time against the other person's time. So if i run 10 seconds and he runs 11 he gets a one second head start and then the only way to beat them is your reation time...so it keeps it all even. Racing fuel has lead and lead and o2 sensors don't mix. besides newer vehicles burn valves easier with it. I would just run 93...which is what i run now. In think they close for winter, but not sure when
